A blue moon from the dinghy on the way in to the first Tuesday night barbie at Jurat park in Dampier which has now become our social /"Barbeque Night/" for us boaties longing some bush scenery and a real fire with John. Discussing why the moon looked so blue. It turns out the old /"Blue Moon/" is just when you get two full moon in one month which happens once in a blue moon! Just lucky it was a blue, Blue Moon, even if it was a couple of days old.

The green wave walls with the golden light of the sunset shining through them topple onto the beach in their varying sizes down at Trigg, their lips stalling before shattering on the glassy pre-wave surface. The texture in this painting is pure paint protruding about 2cm out from the painting, done with my new palette knife!

Painting Inspiration:

Arriving in the region in December, a glassy morning heat haze was not an unusual spectrum to enjoy. We upped anchor from Port Walcott on Christmas eve and made our way to get in amongst it through flying foam passage. We anchored precariously at the end of the passage on sunset, after unsuccessfully finding only rock bottom further up the passage.

Day Loving those deep teals brimming with Spanish mackerel, providing us with some of the more productive fishing in our passages.

Not surprising since the sea life on the northern west coast of Oz has been most abundantly diverse and prolific.

I have wanted to paint a wave big enough to stand in for some time now, and during the course of the my Vic Park solo exhibition & Kalbarri exhibition I managed to finally complete this piece. It�s been a real transformation working on this piece. The deep teals & jades really helped me to recreate my own space, resolving some plaguing issues to move forward. Make no mistake, this is a pretty big piece!

A reminiscence of the time we spent camping out at Herald bight with the dugong taggers. We had the poorest weather but it was all worth it with a spectacular sunrise like this one. Not sure whether the bleary windblown eyes helped or hindered the perception but it was magic just the same.

The ancient stromatelites are thought to have survived as a species for millions of years poised in their vertical columnar colonies in the hyper saline waters of Hamelin Pool, Shark Bay Western Australia.
The shade of a jaded lime at eleven in the morning is my favourite hue here, when the breezy northerly whips the tips of the wind washed bay waves. As a snorkeller I bob dizzily in a tepid salt bath. My entourage of flag tailed fishy friends hover expectantly so I stir up the silt and they feed in a frenzy of underwater dust which attracts a couple of baby bream, a midget yellowtail and golden trevally.
Our observatory meander continues past the ancient living statues, past schools of small fry, over divots of substrate dwellers pin holes and mollusc munched pot holes gliding on to do lunch with the muncher, the multi-dorsaled Shovel Nosed Ray. He slightly spooks and shuffles away. With my pores salty saturated I thank my crowd and leave the untouched pool polarised and still immersed in misty greens and crusted crystals.

Steve sent me out to /�catch a shark/� in the small lagoon near our anchorage here right next to ground zero for the nuclear testing in the 50/�s. I soon got a nice little bronzie which swiftly bit into the front pontoon on out lovely whit zodiac, hence ending up on this beautiful beach for a emergency puncture repair.
